Floral Additions | Wearing Flowers to Feel Like One

Bella Maas

It’s the epitome of spring fashion: floral clothing and accessories are a must. While prints are hard pressed to be found in many women’s wardrobes, this print is quite often an all time favourite. But why do we associate florals so much with spring trends? Especially in the prairies where flowers sometimes don’t even appear until the end of May. After doing a bit more research into the psychology behind fashion and prints we came across the words “Enclothed Cognition.”

Written about and discussed by Adam Hajo and Adam D. Galinsky in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, the effects of clothing on cognitive processes is described as enclothed cognition. For instance, in the case of florals, when we put on a gorgeous floral faced watch we might change or excite our mood because we feel affirmation that it’s spring time. Flowers elicit many feelings such as beauty, femininity, and happiness. Wearing the watch might also motivate you to do other things such as get a glowing tan or a petal pink manicure. In other words, the addition of florals to your wardrobe might just give you that boost of confidence you need during this time of year, and also get you excited for other spring activities merely through cognitive association.

On top of adding flowers to your wardrobe mix, having solid staples in your wardrobe make getting dressed so much easier on days where you just don’t feel like being creative. The best blazer you will ever find is the Bailey44 Jane Jacket. You truly get what you pay for when it comes to Bailey. While you can find it in an array of colours, classic black is our fave. Including other prints associated with florals, such as this butterfly top by Joie, is another adorable way to include spring into your wardrobe. Pairing it with our new Paige denims was an easy move and these Vince Camuto sandals just make any pedicure pop and glisten.

We can’t exactly say floral prints are for everyone, but we certainly think they are cute. With that late spring sunshine just around the corner, we’ve got so many floral dresses, tops and accessories in store to bring that extra bit of vitality to your outfits. Don’t forget to #ourbellas on our social media to show off your floral finds!
