October mornings are here, with crisp mornings and sunny afternoons. The fall fashion scene is still very much about classic denim because of its versatility and ability to be dressed up or down, but now it's time to kick it up a notch from short sleeves to jackets and sweaters. This week we've created 4 layered looks with a dreamy earthy palette of cream, camel and mushroom colours. Starting with a blouse and jeans, we slowly added layers to create multiple outfits for many different temperatures! Phase 1 | Long Sleeve Blouse + Denim + Boots
This blouse is an ultimate piece as it can be styled for work or pleasure. The neckline and zippered detail give it a relaxed boho feel, and it's lined so its great alone, or layered for the winter months. We paired it with our favourite faded jeans by Mother denim, and cuffed them to show off these amazing boots by FreeBird. The structured bag gives it more of a polished feel, but you can dress it down with a boho bucket bag or something with some fringe!
Phase 2 | Add a cozy Sweater
On days with a chill in the air, we love to layer a blouse under a cozy sweater. The raglan shoulder and inside out seams, with the zipper detail in the back elevate the entire look because of the attention to detail. Many sweater designs are a cropped this season, so it makes some room to show a silky blouse hemline underneath which gives your outfit more texture and dimension. (This is also a great trick for people with sensitive skin, or find sweaters scratchy!) We swapped out the structured bag for the cork clutch for a bit of a more casual vibe.
Phase 3 | Add a Trench
To complete the outfit, especially for even colder and windier days, layer your blouse and cozy knit with a lightweight relaxed fit trench coat. The trick to layering is to be able to wear them all without being to stuffy or hot. So by pairing more lightweight fabrics, it's easier to remove layers and better moderate your temperature. Sometimes when the weather is unpredictable, people opt to wear the thickest sweater and heaviest coat, but then once they are indoors they find themselves breaking out in a sweat. Avoid being uncomfortable and stick to more lightweight layers, then less heavy or bulky ones!
Phase 4 | Heavy Blazer as a Jacket
We love the inbetween weather, because it gives us a chance to wear a heavier knit blazer as a jacket! The look is so polished and put together it makes it perfect for travelling smart, or a dress down Friday at the office. If it gets a little breezy, simply add a scarf!
